Do relaxers cause cancer?

A study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute shows evidence linking ingredients in chemical hair straightening products and cancers. The study showed that frequent use of these hair products increases the chance of cancer. Frequent use can be considered 5  or more times a year.

If you have used a chemical hair straightener or relaxer and have been diagnoses with uterine, endometrial or ovarian cancer, you may have a claim and should contact an injury attorney as soon as possible for a free case evaluation.

Which relaxers are linked to cancer?

Because the beauty industry is not required to list all ingredients, it can be difficult determining which products include endocrine-disrupting ingredients. Hair relaxer cancer can be caused by ingredients in brands such as:

  • Olive Oil
  • Just for Me
  • Creme of Nature
  • Optimum Care
  • Soft & Beautiful
  • Carson Soft Sheen
  • Motions
  • Dark & Lovely

However, the list of brands is not limited to these, so if you have been diagnosed with cancer, it is best to discuss your potential claim with your attorney.
