The wrongful termination lawyers at The Leonard Injury Firm successfully settled a case where the client was wrongfully fired from his job as a Cumberland County corrections officer.  The client injured his ACL and meniscus during a training exercise and Cumberland County refused to approve the surgery needed to repair his knee. Anthony Leonard and Benjamin Smith filed a worker’s compensation action to get the surgery approved. Following the testimony of the parties and the medical experts the worker’s compensation Judge Ordered Cumberland County to provide the surgery along with other benefits owed to the client.

While the Worker’s Compensation action was ongoing, Cumberland County fired the client. The Leonard Injury Firm filed a wrongful termination lawsuit on behalf of the client with claims for worker’s compensation retaliation and disability discrimination. Firing because of these two reasons is unlawful as outlined by the State of New Jersey. The case settled a few weeks before the case was scheduled for trial.

More details about the case can be read here.
